Books in Review

I started the New Year promising myself that I would read atleast one book each month.

Last month's selection was given to me by my aunt. She is an aspiring author and her idea of a good time is to read a book and dissect it. This book passed her inspection and was given to me with rave reviews.

January's selection is



Dead Run by Erica Spindler

The book begins with Pastor Rachel Howard. She is panicked and we are unsure as to why but we know she is in trouble. This leads to Rachel's sister coming to Key West to find out what happened to her sister.

This book is full of twists and turns. Beyond each bend we meet another character and delve into their lives. We find that many of these lives intersect and this leads to more questions....more wonderings of "WHY". The author keeps you guessing from page to page as to what is happening and who is to blame.

And the best part is that throughout this mystery there is a hint of romance but a realistic romance.

I recommend this book to anyone. I read it in 4 days...was unable to put it down and refused to do much else during that time.


I am also part of a group that combines knitting and reading the classics.
Knit the Classics committed us to reading Mrs. Dalloway by Virgina Wolf (yes I know I am a few weeks behind...lol) I was thrilled when I saw this as the selected book. Ever since seeing and reading "The Hours", I have been fascinated with this book. However, I am finding this to be a true challenge.

Many on the blog are raving about the book. How great a read it was! But me...I haven't gotten past page 27. The continuous dialogue I am finding difficult to follow. Therefore this book has been set aside for a later read.

Next to come is "Memoirs of a Geisha"
A friend has loaned me the book and I am ready to dive in. Hopefully I won't be too disappointed after the movie. Usually I love the books if I read them after and the movie I found a true joy!!
